Orientation

  • Orientation is competency based and designed to meet individual needs
  • Learning methods include general and specialty based lecture and discussion, skills labs, clinical conferences and computer based programs
  • Unit based preceptors along with nursing leadership assist the new nurse throughout the clinical orientation
  • Orientation is 8-12 weeks based on the assigned unit and learning needs of the orientee
  • The Nurse Residency Program builds on orientation and is required for all new graduate nurses
