Critical Care, Medicine, and ED Services

The Critical Care/Medicine/ED Services comprised of highly specialized areas: The Critical Care Center, the Hemodialysis Unit, the Emergency Department, and several nursing units including Step Down Unit Beds, a Respiratory Progressive Care Unit, and general medical beds. Cardiac patients are situated on HCC11, the care of pulmonary patients is emphasized on 17 West, Neurology and general medical patients are placed on 17 East. Nurses on these units provide direct patient care with a focus on patient and family education. They are actively involved in the expansion of their own knowledge and in the participation in the development and promulgation of standards. There is a multidisciplinary effort related to discharge planning.
