The NYU Cancer Institute, an NCI-designated cancer center, is dedicated to improving cancer prevention, detection, and treatment through basic science and applied clinical research and through innovative programs that blend humanistic patient care and scientific insight.
Embracing new challenges and opportunities available in medicine today, NYU Medical Center is implementing an ambitious plan to substantially expand its programs and services. This includes a newly renovated dedicated inpatient unit for oncology patients and the building of a new ambulatory cancer treatment center. The Cancer Institute's clinical components include 16 East-a 34-bed acute care unit providing care for patients receiving chemotherapy or stem cell transplants or recovering from cancer-related complications, Cooperative Care (a unique inpatient and ambulatory care unit for cancer patients), Radiation Oncology, and the Ambulatory Transfusion Service.
